In 2006 the client wanted a custom built computer with the following criteria:

  • play DVD's
  • listening to music
  • use Photoshop while running other graphic programs at the same time
  • play Flight Simulator Pro 2000,
  • edit audio using SoundForge, ProTools and Cubase
  • be the administrator on a home network
  • watch tv and record television shows
  • have many programs open at once and not have it slow down
  • keep the price under $1200

 

In 2006, this computer was still pretty fast, but was starting to show it's age. This is the upgrade from Rig 1. There were many new technologies coming out this year and if the client still wanted to have a fast computer, upgrading was needed. This will be the third upgrade for this computer since 2001.

The last upgrade was 2003. This is an amazingly fast computer. The AMD dual core is amazing. Having 2 gigs of memory helped a lot too. The hard drive is very fast. With a 16mb cache, this thing flies. This is how computers should be made.

The price just tipped over $1200.

Dual DVD-RW burners, with one being a dual layer burner is great. Has dual Lan and 12 USB ports and 2 FireWire and 2 audio cards and 2 Gigs of memory. 2 of everything. Dual is better!!
